Worship Innovations I By. Rev. Jesse Amiel A. Ramoso
Worship Innovations
People prepared to go to shopping malls, sports club houses and resorts or stay in their home watching tv on Sundays than going to church. Because of the word change, and there is no constant in this world many would agree that all things change. Church activities do not anymore appealing to this generation compared to world has, the generation becomes so short and everything becomes instant. When the internet flourished we realized how the Earth is so small and easy to communicate to other corner of the world in just finger tips. We are exposed to different cultures; traditions, philosophy theology and even worships style. Churches today are pressured to cope up with the needs of the people around including the congregation in order to attract members and worshipers in the church. Most of churches realized that people are not that attracted to gospel anymore and even going church, because media entertainments, club activities and sophisticated shopping malls and movie houses are better place than the church. The churches are now being pressure to innovate worship service. This is not bad idea however compromising the Biblical standard of worship is. Many times in the Bible especially in the Old Testament people of God designed innovation on worship in order to cope up with the same pressure as we have. This happen during Moses versus Kohrah, Judges time, Samuel, David, Ezra and many more. Only David innovated worship with music, “mas matindi” twenty four hours of music in the temple with 124 musicians each shift. Prophet Samuel has to innovate worship, because they don’t have the Ark of the Covenant as it was captured by Philistines during war with sons of Eli. Kohrah innovate worship because he thinks that they’re better than Moses. Ezra innovate worship because of confusion which style of worship should be followed since it was seventy years already they did not experience worship service in the temple. Do they need to follow Davidic style, Solomonic Style, Or Josiah as he is the closest to his generation? Innovation in worship happens almost every generation in the Bible. However, they did not compromise the truth when they innovate. They’re still consistent to the supreme will of God pertaining to worship. The ideas and dedication to worship did not change and this idea is none other than worshipping Jesus.
